Over the 4th of July holiday week, I had the joy of photographing a truly heartwarming family session on Tybee Island. Jenny and Joe were visiting with their three boys, soaking up that sweet coastal summer magic and celebrating Jenny's grandmother's life on the one year anniversary of her passing. Jenny had discovered my work through a link on Facebook and told me something about my photography just drew her in.
When she decided to reach out, we ended up having the loveliest phone conversation. It wasn’t just the soft light from my sunrise and sunset sessions that resonated with her—it turned out her grandmother’s name was Kathryn Ann, the reverse of my own first and middle name. Little signs like that always feel like they were meant to be.
We met up for their session right on the beach outside their hotel, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Jenny and Joe are the kind of people you instantly feel at ease around—warm, thoughtful, and full of love. And their boys? They brought such fun energy to our time together, bouncing between waves, laughter, and racing through the water.
Of course, a little ice cream incentive helped keep things on track—bribery in the name of sweet memories is always fair game in my book. I may or may not be craving some ice cream myself now that I’ve finished editing and delivered their gallery.
This session was a reminder of why I love what I do: connecting with amazing families, capturing honest, joy-filled moments, and getting to share in their stories for a brief but meaningful time.
Jenny, Joe, and boys—thank you for letting me be a small part of your Tybee vacation. I hope these photos always take you back to the sun, the sand, and all the love you share.
