Embracing Savannah: A Different Kind of Love Story

In the early days of 2026, I had the chance to embark on an adventure like no other. I was joined by two wonderful souls, Gaby and Taylor, who were visiting the city on vacation. This journey took us to the heart of Bonaventure Cemetery, a place that perfectly encapsulates the romantic charm and natural beauty that I so deeply admire and love about this city.

The day started with a sense of excitement and anticipation. We had been planning this adventure around their trip for some time and were conscious of the impending rain. Gaby and Taylor had expressed a desire for a setting that resonated with natural vibes. They had initially suggested Wormsloe, a place known for its breathtaking landscapes. However, with the unpredictable weather, shuttle logistics, and a few other factors to consider, we decided to look for an alternative that would offer the same natural appeal, but with the added convenience of being close to a parking lot in case we needed to dodge raindrops.

That&rsquo;s when Bonaventure Cemetery came into the picture. A place of historic significance, its dreamy romantic vibes are hard to ignore. It&rsquo;s a unique blend of nature and history that provides an interesting backdrop for a photography session. It offers both lush trees and serene waterfront views, making it an ideal choice for our nature-inspired adventure.

The day spent exploring Bonaventure Cemetery with Gaby and Taylor was a delightful experience. The cemetery, with its dreamy romantic vibes, was exactly the setting we were looking for. The impending rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of Gaby and Taylor, who were nothing short of lovely and beautiful throughout the day. They truly were a joy to work with and their energy and enthusiasm added a special touch to the day. Even in January we found blossoms blooming.

I am always on the lookout for unique and beautiful locations that can add a special touch to my photo sessions. And on this day, Bonaventure Cemetery proved to be just that. A place that allowed us to be in nature, enjoy the romantic vibes of the city, and create beautiful memories.

Exploring Bonaventure Cemetery: A Blend of Romance, Nature, and Photography

Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the South for senior portraits &mdash; not just because of the scenery, but because of how many different stories it can hold.
This fall, I photographed three Class of 2026 seniors in Savannah: Matilde, Jaiyi, and Allie. Each came in with a different vision, comfort level, and personality &mdash; which made their sessions a perfect example of how a senior photography experience should work.

We began at the bridge walkways on Bay Street, using the elevated paths and the Savannah River and storefronts. Then we moved to a parking garage rooftop, where the clean lines and open sky created an editorial, movie‑scene atmosphere. Also, making sure the grab some images in front of the Lucas and SCAD theaters.

Savannah Seniors

One of the best things about living and working as a photographer in Savannah is that inspiration is always right outside the door. The historic squares, cobblestone streets, and layered history make this city such a dream to photograph&mdash;and I&rsquo;m always looking for ways to gather fresh content that shows off its charm.
Recently, Emily from @windsorgreyphotography and Andrew let me tag along with them while I carried a couple of cameras around town. It was the perfect excuse to explore, create, and collect some new Savannah content for my portfolio.
We started at the Green-Meldrim House, soaking in the Gothic Revival details, after making our way from the Wedding Fountain in Orleans Square. From there, we wandered down Jones Street (always one of my favorites). Then made a quick stop for a wardrobe change and a break from the South Georgia heat and headed to a hotel for some rooftop and lobby photos that gave us a completely different perspective on the city.
Of course, no Savannah adventure is complete without good food, so we wrapped up the day at Zunzi&rsquo;s on Drayton. Between the iconic backdrops, the little spontaneous stops along the way, and the company, it was exactly the kind of day that reminds me why I love documenting this city and couples so much.
Savannah has a way of surprising me every time I go out with my camera&mdash;and I can&rsquo;t wait to share more of what I&rsquo;ve been capturing.

Exploring Savannah with Emily & Andrew

Over the 4th of July holiday week, I had the joy of photographing a truly heartwarming family session on Tybee Island. Jenny and Joe were visiting with their three boys, soaking up that sweet coastal summer magic and celebrating Jenny's grandmother's life on the one year anniversary of her passing. Jenny had discovered my work through a link on Facebook and told me something about my photography just drew her in.
&nbsp;
When she decided to reach out, we ended up having the loveliest phone conversation. It wasn&rsquo;t just the soft light from my sunrise and sunset sessions that resonated with her&mdash;it turned out her grandmother&rsquo;s name was Kathryn Ann, the reverse of my own first and middle name. Little signs like that always feel like they were meant to be.
&nbsp;
We met up for their session right on the beach outside their hotel, and it couldn&rsquo;t have been more perfect. Jenny and Joe are the kind of people you instantly feel at ease around&mdash;warm, thoughtful, and full of love. And their boys? They brought such fun energy to our time together, bouncing between waves, laughter, and racing through the water.
&nbsp;
Of course, a little ice cream incentive helped keep things on track&mdash;bribery in the name of sweet memories is always fair game in my book. I may or may not be craving some ice cream myself now that I&rsquo;ve finished editing and delivered their gallery.
&nbsp;
This session was a reminder of why I love what I do: connecting with amazing families, capturing honest, joy-filled moments, and getting to share in their stories for a brief but meaningful time.

My husband, Gavin and I decided about a year ago to do something crazy. We decided to pick up our lives on the North Shore of Boston to relocate to Savannah, Ga.
&nbsp;
This was not an easy decision in many ways, we both grew up in Massachusetts and were leaving the one place we had ever really lived as individuals and as a couple. Our friends and family were also a big factor and now that we miss them so much we are hoping that they come visit us soon. With that in mind, now that we are a couple thousand miles away we wanted to use some of our skills and create a road map of things we are doing in hopes it will entice visitors even more.

Gavin has always enjoyed playing tour guide whenever someone was going to Boston or Salem, MA. We love sharing where we live with people, we just don't know what we don't know yet here in Savannah. So while we compile Gavin's database of best in Savannah for any particular scenario, hopefully our YouTube channel will save him from writing a novel into Messenger for each person that asks. All we will have to do is say, 'Hey you might enjoy this link"

The Intimate Elopement of Sarah and Mike: A Sunset Love Story at Myrtle Beach

On a picturesque day with a hint of autumn chill in the air, Stacey and Mark's wedding day dawned threatened rain, but picked the perfect time to clear up at the beautiful venue known as <a href="https://bullmeadow.com/weddings/?gad_source=1&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjw57exBhAsEiwAaIxaZgg6L6YfE_9LOVbSoVtEiY8_3R_GtEUGv7L6XA9nK7j3AqvAxMT31hoCB7UQAvD_BwE">The Barn at Bull Meadow</a> in the quaint town of Concord, New Hampshire. Syndey Nicolson at the venue was a pleasure to work with. Nestled amidst verdant fields and ringed by towering trees, the barn provided the perfect rustic backdrop for their special day. The morning began with the sweetest of rituals. Stacey, in her bridal suite, was surrounded by her beaming bridesmaids, each one fussing over her, their laughter ringing through the room. The air was thick with anticipation as the hairstylist, Shannon Ortiz weaved intricate curls into Stacey's hair, her real daisies carefully placed in her bun for the final touch. The bride's excitement was palpable - her eyes sparkled with joy, her smile never fading. Meanwhile, Mark and his groomsmen were in their own quarters, indulging in their fair share of pre-wedding rituals. The air was filled with the smell of fresh aftershave and the sound of laughter as they shared old stories and fond memories. Mark, looking dapper in his well-tailored suit, just waiting for that intimate first look to come before they said their I Do's. The ceremony took place under the open skies, at the adjacent field where there is a large pergola. White chairs were arranged in neat rows on the lush green lawn, and an arch adorned with flowers and greenery marked the spot where Stacey and Mark would exchange their vows. The guests arrived, their cheerful chatter and laughter adding to the festive atmosphere. As Stacey walked down the aisle, the world seemed to stand still. Mark's face lit up like the morning sun as he watched his bride approach, his heart full of love and adoration. The ceremony was a beautiful blend of traditional and personal touches. The couple exchanged their vows, their voices steady and clear. Laughter was ever present and their promises were sealed with a tender kiss. The guests erupted into cheers, showering the newlyweds with cheers. The reception held in the barn was as warm and inviting as the couple themselves. The rustic charm of the barn was enhanced with fairy lights, creating a soft, romantic glow. Long tables were laden with delicious food from both of their heritage, and the air was filled with the clinking of glasses and hearty laughter. Once dinner was served and cleared guests joined on the dance floor, the barn echoing with the sound of music and merriment.  As the night fell, the barn was bathed in the soft glow of the strung twinkle lights, the celebration continuing into the wee hours. And so, in the quiet town of Concord, at the charming Barn at Bull Meadow, Stacey and Mark's wedding day was not just a union of two souls, but a celebration of love, friendship, and togetherness.
